Client: Colfax County, New Mexico

This is the text of the final newspaper ad in a series that was part of a lengthy campaign I created to convince Colfax County, N.M., voters to approve a one-eighth-cent increase in gross receipts sales tax to help pay for renovation work to the county courthouse. The County hired me to design and manage all aspects of the campaign. This is a text version with minor formatting, not the final design.

Be careful who you listen to . . . Know the truth before you vote!

2003 Colfax County Courthouse Renovation Project

The Choice is Ours

Vote YES

  • Provide the solution to fire, structural, evacuation and other crucial safety issues
  • Give the County access to substantial state and federal grant funding to help pay for the project
  • Finish the work faster and at the lowest cost
  • Take pride in a historic County building that operates with 21st-century efficiency

Vote NO

  • Save one-eighth of a penny on every dollar spent in the County
  • Delay completion of the project indefinitely, creating further safety risk and service disruption for employees and visitors
  • Pay for the entire project with taxpayer money from an already restricted budget
  • Pay up to $12 million for $6 million worth of work

On September 23, it’s our choice.

Vote Yes for the Courthouse. Vote Yes for Colfax County.
